Terry Robinson

New Leaf Counseling Group was founded by Mr. Logan Cohen in 2014 and established in the Dilworth neighborhood of Charlotte. Over the last 12 years, New Leaf has been dedicated to serving community members who are in need of emotional and psychological support, especially those struggling with disruption in their most personal and intimate social relationships. Terry Robinson is one of our newest therapists to carry on this philosophy.

By the time I graduated from high school, I had attended more than 17 different schools.  As the daughter of a "doodle-bugger" (a person who works in the oil exploration industry and moves from town to town/state to state A LOT) I have lived in ten states. Living in the NorthEast, in the South, and in the West, I learned to appreciate the diverse populations of each area.  I developed a respect for the uniqueness of individuals and an awareness of the role family and environment play in a person’s development.

My respect for individuality and my belief in people’s ability to find solutions for the issues impacting their lives are the basis of my person-centered, strength-based approach to therapy.  I work with individuals, couples, and families who are struggling with diverse challenges, from temporary overwhelming stressors to life-altering losses or burdens.  I offer insight, support, and guidance, while helping individuals develop strategies to navigate life’s challenges and cope effectively with the difficulties they face.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor as well as a National Certified Counselor with over 15 year of experience assisting adolescents and adults experiencing challenges in their lives: relationship issues, mood disorders, trauma, addiction, career/education issues, difficult life transitions, grief/loss.  I use a variety of therapeutic interventions including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing to assist individuals in making positive steps toward achieving well-being in their mental health and relationships.
